About Kept
Kept is a private voice journal. You speak; Kept transcribes, tags, and quietly notices patterns over time. Everything you record is encrypted in your browser with a key only you hold — there is no admin override and no backdoor.
What Kept is for
Kept is a place to think out loud. It reflects your own words back to you so patterns become visible: what you keep returning to, what's easing, what's not. It is not therapy and not diagnosis. If you're in danger, please contact a local helpline.
How Kept notices
Kept will not name your feelings, diagnose you, advise you, or ask you questions. It stays silent when it has nothing grounded to say. That restraint is the point.
Within that limit, Kept quietly looks for six kinds of pattern across your entries — recurrence (a phrase that keeps coming back), contrast (two entries about the same thing that land differently), novelty (something you've never written before), absence (a phrase that ran for weeks and then stopped), cadence (streaks and gaps), and anniversaries. When one is clear enough to be worth saying, Kept surfaces it in your own words, with dates. It also remembers what it has already shown you, so it won't tell you the same thing twice. The FAQ covers how this works while your journal stays encrypted.
How your privacy works
Your entries are encrypted on your device before they leave it. The server stores ciphertext only. Read the full explanation on the privacy page or browse common questions in the FAQ.
